Template Name: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard Evaluation, 64-bit
Vendor: Online.net
Vendor Service Package: Dedibox SC 2016
Physical or Virtual: Physical Server
Motherboard: Dont know
Processor: 1x Intel C2350 (Avoton)
RAM: 4 GB DDR3 ECC
Location: Online.net, France, DC2)
Error Information: After instalation server doesnt boot and i cant even ping it.

After this happened i googled a bit and altough i havent found a solution i am convinced it has to do with network card drivers, reason why i cant ping server.

Please help.

Please disregard my earlier response, I had forgotten that only the older personal range included IPMI access.

Have you attempted to connect to the server using Remote Desktop (RDP)?

The default configuration for Windows firewall blocks inbound ICMP ping requests and as such your server won't ping until you login via RDP (Remote Desktop) and change the rules to allow it. We only modify the Windows firewall to allow RDP access, all other settings remain untouched.

How are you determining your server has failed to boot?

How are you determining your server has failed to boot?

Honestly...

By the absence of RDP connection and to ping the server.

Any ideias please.

I would like to get this working please.

Kind regards

Before we troubleshoot further I want to confirm the exact template you installed from our mirror.

Please provide the exact mirror link you used (ie.  http://mirror.whatuptime.com/releases/Microsoft_Windows_10_Enterprise_Evaluation_64-bit_US_English.gz)

Not to worry! I have edited your response 🙂

That is indeed the correct template.

I have just completed the installation onto my Online.net server using the same template and everything worked exactly as it should - running Windows without an issue and connecting with RDP.

Would you be comfortable providing me access to your server so I may install the template and troubleshoot further? If so, please send an email to [email protected] and we can continue privately.

Hello.

Considering you dont reply your emails here goes my sit rep:

I still cant connect with RDP but if i go rescue mode and :

Install Portable QEMU, then i launch it

by then i am abble to acess server with VNC client using "myserverIp:1" details

If i establish VNC connection, by then i can connect with RDP.

I have made updates, turned firewall off, allowed remote invites, turned sleep mode off

But, i still cant get with RDP in server in "normal boot" and get a ping.

Before you called me out for ignoring your email had you considered the possibility that I am located in another timezone than yourself? Your email came many hours after I requested you reach out and after I had gone to bed for the evening, as such I wasn't able to respond to it immediately.

I will respond to your email shortly, meanwhile as you have Windows running via Qemu please check the Windows Event logs as it will provide a wealth of information in regards to possible errors your system is reporting during a regular boot.

To that end, when you start your server via Qemu how are you assigning the IP address, manually or DHCP?

Hello.

I did not intend to offend! As you can imagine i am stressing for a service i paid and not using!

I have installed Windows Server 2008 and got blue screen of Death

Have tried once more Server 2012 R2 and same resultus (none)

Installing now Windows 10 Enterprise.

Regarding the Ip i try to set it manually via "Network settings" in Windows control panel and lost connection for good.

I gather they have DHCP because i havent config anything myself.

Kind regards
