Is your VPS using KVM virtualization?

Excellent, it is more than likely the same as the other Contabo thread for SSD VPS.
I would recommend trying the VirtIO-SCSI first and if it fails, shoot for the regular VirtIO.
Apologies for not having first hand experience with their services.
